Griddles are most commonly associated with pancakes and sunny-side-up eggs, but they’re a very versatile cooking surface. With a griddle, you can cook hamburgers while warming their buns, crisp up carnitas while warming tortillas, or sear a steak instead of using an outdoor grill. With these wide cooktops, you can cook for a large household and use them as warming trays for buffets.

Electric griddles are excellent options since they can be used on any tabletop with access to an outlet; they provide consistent heat and are generally easier to clean than built-in griddles and griddle pans.

Read on to find our picks for the best electric griddles to add to your kitchen.

Cooking Surface

There are a variety of electric griddles with different cooking surfaces, and some have nonstick coatings. Although there isn’t one right answer, you should pay attention to the characteristics of the cooking surface to make sure it fits your cooking style.

Drip tray

If you’re going to use your griddle to cook greasy foods like bacon and hamburgers, make sure it has an easy-to-clean drip tray.

  1. To be honest, when I think of griddles, a very particular picture comes to my mind. I mean, when I was younger, I used to travel a lot with my family. Our most frequent travel destination was Germany. Everything Germany; as long as it’s Germany, we’re going. And whenever we stayed at a hotel, there were a good number of griddles each morning there, each serving two to three foods. And they all looked kind of like the Wolf Gourmet Recision Electric Griddles.

I’m not sure if they truly were of the Wolf brand. But visually those were very similar. And so, whenever I think of griddles, this is what springs to my mind. And since it’s quality and it’s the best electric one out there, I’ll probably just stick with that.

    Thank you. 🙂

    1. Yes, griddles are extremely popular in businesses like hotels, as they are easy to use and quick. Guest can go have a quick breakfast by fixing them pancakes or waffles along with warm-up bagels. You have great childhood memories and so do I concerning the use of griddles in hotels.

    1. Hello Ingrid, I love to use Electric Griddle that cooks the meat within a short period and is also easy to clean. Hamilton Beach is a great choice.

  3. I am looking for a double non-stick coating to remove my pancakes once they are cooked without any problem. I do not like to use oil or butter to keep my food from sticking. After reading your post and because I travel so much, I will buy the Dash Mini Maker Electric Round Griddle.

    1. Do you have any questions concerning which one of the Electric Griddles will allow you to cook pancakes without using oils or butter that will allow easy cleaning? Without using oil or butter to keep food from sticky might lead to having to scrub or scrap to get clean that can damage the griddle plate.

  4. Thanks for your reviews on electric griddles. When I hear the word “griddle”, I think of pancakes, bacon and eggs.  And I cook a lot of those, so these griddle reviews come in handy.  I’d say I like the multi-task griddle by Cuisinart. It costs $99 on Amazon and can do several things at once. it’s a 5-in-1 countertop. I also like that it comes with different griddle plates. I can make a panini sandwich if I want to. I like kitchen gadgets that can do more than one thing so as to not take up too much space.  Now, I like the crepe maker also, but I don’t make crepes, so this gadget wouldn’t work for me.

    1. Griddles are handy kitchen appliances to have for quick meals. I love the 5-In-1 Countertop Griddle as can do multiple tasks to spend less time preparing your meals.

  5. Hi Jannette,

Thanks for your detailed review! It is great that you include a ceramic option in your post because we are now moving away from the non stick coating. And I guess it will be heavier than the normal ones, but safety comes first ^_^. I think I will go with the Presto 7055 Cool-Touch Electric Ceramic Griddle, thanks again for your recommendation! Grace

  6. When I saw your recommendation for the NutriChef Electric Griddle and Crepe maker, it reminded me of my trips to Paris. I used to love getting crepes from small shops there and always wondered where you could buy one of those that had the wooden utensils. Making crepes is just too messy to make on a flat electric griddle. So this was great to find out about. I also own a Griddler and it’s terrific for cooking everything from burgers to salmon to pancakes. It does it all. Thanks for sharing this detailed review on griddles. I really enjoyed reading it!

    1. Crepes are messy to make on the regular griddle. I like the double plate griddle to cook a few things at a time to help get meals done for my family faster.
